This is the team who designed the erotic writing course. When
you enrol, one of them will become your personal tutor.
James Barnes, Dean
James, who is originally from Australia, was educated at Australia
National University and then the Sorbonne. He spent his professional
career working as a freelance newspaper and magazine journalist
in New York, London, Paris and the Far East. He has written for
a huge range of publications from Penthouse to the Berkley Health
Report and from the Straits Times to Architectural Design. He has
been Dean of the Wade College of Creative Writing since 2001.
Mike Bailey, Course Director
Mike Bailey has long experience of publishing (and writing) erotic books in the UK - he founded the Nexus imprint for Virgin and managed all the Headline Erotic imprints until they retreated from the genre in the late 90s; so is in a good position to advise on what his particular publishers are looking for. As a consequence it's worth taking his pithy but to-the-point remarks on board - particularly if you're new to the business.
Mitzi Szereto, Guest Lecturer
Not only is Mitzi one of the most prolific writers of erotic fiction in the UK, she is also the pioneer of the erotic writing workshop, and a well-known fixture on the interview circuit, appearing in the Bravo TV documentary 3001: A Sex Oddity and on BBC Radio.

was published in hardback by John Murray in 2001 and in paperback
by Scholastic in 2002. He has written for a wide range of magazines
and newspapers, including Building Design, Country Life, and the
Mail on Sunday.
Frances Donnelly, Personal Tutor
Frances Donnelly worked on BBC Radio 4 for twenty five years as
a producer and reporter on book related features and documentaries. She has published two best selling novels and is currently at work on a third. She teaches creative writing , is a feature writer for the Eastern Daily Press and reviews fiction for the Saturday Times. Following a life long interest in romantic novels she now teaches a course in writing them.
Michael Connolly, Personal Tutor
Michael Connolly is the pseudonym of a well-known international journalist whose career would be somewhat hampered by the fact that he has written over 20 best-selling erotic novels. Widely read, extremely knowledgeable and enormously enthusiastic he is delighted to share his experience with his students.
Jane Burleigh, Personal Tutor
Jane has been involved in all aspects of the sex industry for over 20 years. She started her career working in strip clubs and then in the escort trade. There is nothing she doesn’t know about what turns the punters on. And nothing she is ashamed to discuss! She works as a sex counsellor (providing on the spot advice for adventurous couples wanting to spice up their love life); a consultant to the adult themed film industry; and – most importantly – she writes hardcore novels and stories for websites, magazines and book publishers.
Lyndon Meade, Personal Tutor
Lyndon, who is Australian by birth, retired to the south of France several years ago after a long career editing a range of ‘adult interest’ titles (including Forum Asia) and having contributed to several books including the original A-Z of Sex.
Val Peart, Personal Tutor
Val was born and educated in the UK but spent most of his career in the USA where he worked for a range of mainstream publishers including Harper Collins, Random House and Simon & Schuster. Although primarily a book editor he has also translated several erotic novels from French to English. He now lives in the Caribbean.
Harry Becker, Personal Tutor
Harry Becker is one of the highest-paid erotica writers and the
author of the ‘A.N.Onymous’ series of erotic novels,
including the best-selling They Came By Night and Under Cover of
Darkness. He is a regular contributor to various erotic websites.
Harry has also written innumerable short stories under the name ‘Andrew
Steed’.
Wendy Herrick, Personal Tutor
Wendy started out working for local newspapers in her native Canada
before moving to the UK. Last year, Wendy published her first fetish
novel – Will o’ The Whip – and is currently working
on developing her own fetish-writing website. Although she was
only born in 1978, she is already supporting herself through her
erotic writing. |
